Mistake number 2

You don’t remember mistake number 1? It was getting excited about this messenger bag without looking at all of the pictures/steps.  But I’ve jumped in, so here I go.

I’ve just made my first real mistake in construction. Since I’m not too far in to the project, my guess is that there will be many more. We’ll see if the end product even resembles a messenger bag at all!

The instructions for the flap say to lay your lining fabric, then your outer fabric, then your interfacing, and then put the button loop fabric in the sandwich. You might have thought that with the pictures, and with the two bags I made in the last two nights that both involved straps, I might have been able to put the darn loop pieces facing the correct way. You would, however, be giving me too much credit if you thought that.

But I can’t undo it, because mistake 1.5 was buying fusible interfacing, which is now fused to one of the fabrics, so I can’t just rip the seam out. (Maybe I could? I think I’m just going to call it a loss and move on.)

Stay tuned for the next mistake!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I love your background! I think we’re using the same theme? 🙂 Great minds think alike, eh? I can’t decide which I like more- sewing or knitting. Let me know if you figure it out. I wish I could just do both all day and nothing else… well, maybe I should feed my kids…..

Sewing: quicker. Knitting: more relaxing. I think it’s a toss-up, and then add in jewelry making and other craft-like things and, well, where’s my husband with the high salary so I can stay home?
